Watermarks suck, by the way.
If you're doing art for the sake of winning things, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons.
The painting that I spent the most amount of work on wound up not winning anything in states, yet the one I spent twenty minutes on (and didn't really care for) won a gold medal. That's saying something right there.
Winning medals and shit only tells you what other people think about how you paint. To me, that never really mattered. I paint because I like painting for the sake of painting. Constantly worrying about what other people think of your paintings will cause you to lose sense of yourself, because then you're trying to please others instead of doing something you really like.
